Easy Homemade Pie Crust

This Easy Homemade Pie Crust comes together fast with simple pantry ingredients and bakes into a flaky, buttery base for any pie. Chill the dough before rolling for the best texture, then use it for fruit pies, custards, pot pies, or quiche-style bakes.
Ingredients
3½ cups all-purpose flour, divided
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, melted
⅓ cup cold shortening
6 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups flour and salt.
Cut in the cold shortening using a pastry cutter (or your fingers) until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
Pour in melted butter and stir gently just until combined.
Add the remaining ½ cup flour gradually. Drizzle in cold water 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing only until the dough comes together.
Divide dough in half and shape into two disks. Wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
On a floured surface, roll out dough to about 1/8-inch thick and fit into a pie plate. Use according to your pie recipe.
Optional blind bake: Preheat oven to 400°F. Line crust with parchment and pie weights, bake 12–15 minutes, then remove weights and bake 5 minutes more if needed.
