This Habanero Creamy Sauce is a spicy, flavorful condiment you can use on tacos, grilled meats, sandwiches, or as a dip. The habaneros bring serious heat, while honey adds a touch of sweetness to round it out. If you want it milder, blend in cooked sweet peppers for a smoother, more balanced sauce.

Ingredients

2 cups fresh diced habaneros (makes about 1 cup cooked down)

¼ cup water

Pinch of salt

2 tablespoons honey

2 cups ripe mild peppers (Anaheim, panca, or red bell pepper)

½ cup water

Instructions

  1. In a well-ventilated area, add diced habaneros to a covered pot with a small amount of oil. Cook until softened and cooked down.

  2. Transfer cooked habaneros to a blender. Add ¼ cup water, a pinch of salt, and honey. Blend until smooth.

  3. Optional (for a milder sauce): In a separate pot, combine mild peppers with ½ cup water. Cook over medium heat until softened.

  4. Blend the softened mild peppers until smooth.

  5. Stir or blend the mild pepper sauce into the habanero sauce until well combined.

  6. Use immediately or store chilled in an airtight container.
