Congo is a sweet heirloom watermelon for a garden with room for large fruit. The melons regularly reach 50 pounds or more, so plan for that size before planting.

An All-America Selections winner in 1950, Congo does best in warm weather and sandy soil. Give its trailing vines plenty of space and summer sun.
