The Leutschauer Pepper gets its name from its origin: Leutschau, Slovakia. This very rare Paprika pepper was brought over to Matrafured, Hungary in the 1800s, and has been growing there ever since. The compact Leutschauer pepper plant will grow over 2 feet tall in your garden or any container plant and boast great yields of these bright red peppers. These pods stretch to anywhere between 2-4" long and have shiny, smooth skin and conical shape that tapers off to a point. When you take a bite, you’ll notice a crispy texture with sweet flavors, matching their sweet aromas. The Leutschauer Paprika pepper is popular in Hungarian markets but is hard to find in the USA. This is a must-have Pepper for Chile connoisseurs, and they are great for drying, smoking, and into a spicy pepper powder.
